Golf Instructor

Your game is my passion. I enjoy helping people play better golf.

I started teaching golf for the Portage Parks and Recreation junior program in 2000. The next season began my journey as a full time instructor.  After working at Norms Golf for 4 seasons, I moved to Middlebury IN for a job at Meadow Valley Golf Course. For the next ten seasons I enjoyed working with students from Middlebury to South Bend.

2013-2020 I was at the cutting edge of golf insruction working at Golftec Toledo. I became director of instruction and manager and was able to measure the golf swing of 100s of students. Using video, biomechanics measurements, and pressure plates readings, I have learned what techniques good players have, and what bad players don't do.

It has been my dream is to start Scott McMurray Golf, a mobile swing lab. With my experience and growing technology, I know I can help anybody play better golf.

3 Reasons to Hire a Personal Coach

01. Help You Commit To Goals

A personal coach will help you commit to your goals from showing up to lessons to completing drills and helping with your mental approach to the game. A personal coach can help you stay on track.

02. Help With Swing Mechanics & Technique

A personal coach will help you with your swing mechanics and technique to make sure you are swinging correctly. If your form is not correct you are at risk of injury as well as not achieving your goals.

03. Help Achieving Goals Faster

Have you ever hit balls aimlessly on the range or breezed through practice chips and putts without focus. A personal coach can help you maximize your results and achieve your goals faster than practicing alone.

FAQ's

1. Do I need to already be a golfer to take lessons?
No, in fact getting lessons when you start helps avoid frustration so you can enjoy yourself and have more fun. Many people want to play golf but decide not to because it is confusing and difficult to start.

2. I heard it's expensive to hire an instructor?
It will cost a little more up front but when you consider many people play golf their entire life and struggle, hiring an experienced instructor is a wise choice. Don't fall into the trap of buying expensive training aids and new clubs every season, it won't work!

3. Do I need my own clubs?
No, I can provide clubs for you. Taking lessons before you buy new clubs is a good way to find out what type of set is right for you saving you before wasting money on clubs you can't play your best with.

4. What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check and credit cards.

5. Can I cancel my lesson?
Yes. We just ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel a training session.

Testimonials

★★★★★

"As an engineer by trade, I constantly deal with bringing the unknown into reality. Hitting a golf ball with a fundamentally sound swing, has been the single most difficult unknown, I've ever attempted. Scott's depth of knowledge for the fundamentals,  has by far, been the single biggest influence on my swing. His ability to diagnose and improve a swing is exceptional. Highly recommended!"
